Elizabeth Smith ( - )

Elizabeth, who was born in the New Forest area of Hampshire, moved to the North East in the mid 1970’s.

Elizabeth Smith has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists since 1989. She was accorded full membership in 2001. Much of her work for the Marine Society results from frequent visits to the coast where she is attracted by the special quality of light associated with the sea and by the diversity of the coastal landscape.

Subjects include fishing villages and harbours, working boats and yachts and some still life. She works in pastel combining careful observation with a strong sense of design, composition and colour.
