William Shayer

(1787-1879)

He lived and died near Southampton.A member of one of the greatest families of painters the world has ever known.

Amongst them are Herring,Boddington,Percy,Ward and Chalon.
He was never an imitator. His glow of colour and charm of subject delighted the world ofthe English countryside and is
continually in sympathy with children and animals.Possessors of Shayer's paintings are always reluctant to part with them
a fitting testimonial to his work. His work has been exhibited widely but also copied often particularly the woodland scenes.
