Andreas Schelfhout

(1787-1870)

Born in The Hague.He received instruction from Brechenheimer the painter.He became famous in 1815 with his Winter Landscape
which is now in the Amsterdam Museum as a national treasure.His works are numerous and all of the natural scenery of Holland and
Dutch people.He was awarded the Order of the Lion in 1839 and of Leopold in 1845.

His work is held in the permanent collections of many museums.
