Of French parentage he is renowned for his charming townscapes featuring magnificent gothic architecture of the northern towns
of Europe.
His paintings are a unique document of every day life in 19th century France and Belgium capturing in oil people going about
their daily business.He spent his latter years in London where he died as a result of financial worries inĀ  about 1900.
