David Napp

(1964 - )

David Napp was born in London in 1964 and trained at Canterbury College of Art. He has been a full time painter since graduating with a
Diploma in Art & Design with first-class honours in 1985.That year he was also runner-up for The National Student of the Year Award from
The Chartered Society of Designers. David has been exhibiting his work since the age of 19 in one man shows in the U.K as well as shows in
the U.S.A, France & Holland.

            He has twice been awarded the Elizabeth Greenshield Award for young artists..in 1986 and 1990.

In 2013 he received the prestigious Pollock Krasner Foundation Award from New York.

            He spent much of 2009 painting commissions on the northern Italian lakes for David Capewell, a NATO General who has since become
the Chief of Joint Operations for the British Armed Forces. He was subsequently commissioned to paint a 5’ x 4’ pastel of Old College by the
Sandhurst Military Academy as a celebration of their bi-centenary. As a result of this he has been nominated to paint the 2014 Beating of the Retreat, commemorating the Royal Marines 350th anniversary. This event will be in the presence of Prince Phillip at Horse Guards Parade, London.

            In 2013 he was commissioned by “ Afloat in France” to paint their entire fleet of boats and as a result of this, his work is to be used in an advertising campaign by Imagine Cruising to go out on ten television networks.

            He also has works in the collections of Eric Idle,Keith Chapman, Sir James Dyson CBE,James Herbert OBE,David Hufton and Michael Wolff.
            In 2010 he became a member of the Chelsea Arts Club in London.

            He mostly divides his time between the south of France and Italy, being bi-lingual in French and fluent in Italian.
