Jan Evert Morel (1835-1905)

 



Born in Amsterdam the son of portrait painter Casparus Johannes Morel.He worked in Amsterdam from 1853 to 1874 as a
landscape painter but was known to be a drawing master.Morel's style is firmly rooted in the Dutch Romantic landscape tradition
that was undergoing a revival in this period.

He specialised in summer and winter landscapes and it was within this environment that the artist created his greatest works by capturing the
unique light and atmosphere of those seasons.Morel's pictures with their careful execution,restful composition and elegant manner can be found
often in pairs in Dutch museums.
