Mary Dipnall

(1936 - )

Born into an artistic family in 1936 in Portsmouth, Mary Dipnall has lived all her life in Hampshire. Educated at Daleys School for Girls, her artistic talents were recognised at the early age of nine years when she gained an honours certificate from The Royal Drawing Society.

When their two sons were at school she once more had time to study and sketch the natural world around her. Mary began to paint for her own pleasure and through the medium of oil paint and using the vehicle of still life to learn and develop, she discovered with a sense of excitement the colour and beauty in simple things – the way light falls on a basket of eggs or a glass of wine.

Wild flowers in particular, have become her main interest and she makes a point of studying them in their natural habitat. Her paintings with their unique style and perspective, are in great demand throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.
